Our History
1970s: Decade of Opportunity
During the 1970s, Delta developed a two-handle washerless line to compliment its single-handle offering.
Delta was also the first manufacturer to develop the concept of affordable decorative faucets by adding a high-arc spout.
Additional decorative features included texture and a special antique brass finish.
In a bold move, Delta became the first faucet manufacturer to advertise to plumbers and consumers on TV and in print.
People began asking for Delta faucets. This established Delta as a well-known brand name.
In 1971, as home centers began to appear at retail, so did consumers who wanted to install their own faucets. The Peerless® brand was developed for the Do-It-Yourselfer. Peerless faucets were designed to be easy to install and featured step-by-step illustrated instructions in a consumer-friendly package.
As brands, product lines and distribution continued to expand, the Chickasha, Oklahoma, plant facility was opened in 1976.
